I think I’m secretly channeling my inner Lioness with this latest make. Possibly a bit too luxurious for watching football, maybe better suited for lazy days lounging around a spa or cruise ship.

I have to admit I’m undecided as to which I’ve enjoyed more, making this tracksuit or wearing it reveling in the super soft velour fabric.

Speaking of which, the fabric is from Minerva’s core range and is a polyester stretch velour. It was very kindly gifted to me as part of their Ambassador programme and looks beautiful in this gorgeous shade of steel blue.

I have to admit I was a little apprehensive about how tricky it was going to be to work with but I needn’t have worried, it behaved beautifully.

The pattern I used has been in my stash for years and I don’t think it’s available anymore but there are lots of similar patterns available.

Before I started I washed the fabric and was really pleased with how well it laundered. It holds a press but you do need to use a pressing cloth to avoid scorching the fabric. I also found my clapper useful.

As usual hubby cut out the pieces for me using the rotary cutter and we did this in a single layer to avoid the fabric slipping. I was surprised that it didn’t malt too much as I had envisaged a sewing room full of fluff.

I used a combination of the regular sewing machine with a walking foot (with a microtex needle) and the overlocker and finished off the hems with my cover stitch machine. Because of this I didn’t exactly follow the sewing instructions regarding construction.

I used my Prym fastening pliers to attach eyelets for the drawstring waist and some cord ends to complete the look.

In the future I may embroider a small logo on the jacket but I had ran out of stabiliser so have left it for now.

This has been a thoroughly enjoyable make and I absolutely love how comfy it feels to wear so I know I’ll be getting lots of use out of this one.
