The Montdale Dress

Here’s my second make from Jenny Rushton’s new book ‘Sewing the curve’, it’s the Montdale dress. This is such a lovely easy dress to make, and back in the summer when we were taking the photos it was lovely to have such a cool comfy dress to relax in.

The Montdale can be made as a tunic or a swing dress. I chose the dress option and bought some of Minerva’s Exclusive Jungle Dreamer Linen Viscose fabric to make it. I absolutely love this fabric, the little leopards really make me smile and the teal colour goes so well as a background.

This was the perfect fabric for this dress, having just enough rigidity to keep the lines of the design but lovely softness to make it feel super comfy to wear. The dress is a great make if you are a beginner as it comes together in no time. There are pockets included in the design but I chose to leave them out as they aren’t practical with my chair. As usual Jenny’s instructions are really clear but there’s a sew along for guidance if you need some extra help.

Even though I said it’s the perfect summer dress, I’m currently wearing it with tights and a cardigan so it’s really a wear whenever you want dress.

I received advanced copies of the patterns and also a copy of the book in return for making up two of the patterns.

Image Descriptions: (there are six images taken from different angles showing Yvonne sat in her wheelchair in her garden. She is wearing a sleeveless teal blue dress with leopards and palm leaves printed on it. She has blue pumps on her feet).
